Our Beloved School

Transfiguration Catholic School

Welcome to Transfiguration Catholic School!

Transfiguration Catholic School is a Pre-K through 8th-Grade School that is expressly founded upon the Catholic Faith and the Catholic Tradition for the education and formation of youth.   Our School seeks to foster in our students the goals of knowing, loving, and serving God in this life, in order to enjoy Him forever in the next.

We are committed to the unity of faith and reason, forming students as faith-filled, intelligent, virtuous, confident, courageous young people who will live, learn, and share their Catholic faith for the rest of their lives.  Our educational philosophy emphasizes the Virtues, the Catholic intellectual tradition, and rigorous academic excellence, setting as our ultimate goal the preparation of students for lives that transfigure the world in Christ Jesus.

  • The Mission of Transfiguration Catholic School is: As an Apostolate of Transfiguration Catholic Church, Transfiguration Catholic School exists to lead our students to Christ through Christian Discipleship, Academic Excellence, and Great Love.

  • In addition to the principal values of Christian Discipleship, Academic Excellence and Great Love, Transfiguration Catholic School’s primary goal is to help bring about God’s Kingdom on Earth.

We are a parish school, a primary apostolate of the parish, with a highly positive symbiotic relationship between parish and school; our primary focus is serving children of our parishioners. We welcome all families in the community at large who seek to participate and cooperate in our mission and vision.

We aspire to live a fully Catholic life: faithful to the Magisterium in all things, attending weekly Mass, and making regular confession, and pursuing a vibrant life of prayer.

As a Catholic community, we “love…in deed and in truth” (1 John 3:18) and speak “the truth in love” (Eph. 4:15) so that we may “encourage one another and build one another up” (1 Thess. 5:11) thus, “building up the body of Christ” (Eph. 4:12).

Our parents, who are highly involved in their children’s academic, spiritual and emotional growth, work as a team with teachers and administrators. Teachers and administrators assist parents with their responsibilities as the primary educators of their children.

We use curriculum which cultivates the mind in the true, the good, and the beautiful, enables mastery of life skills, and fosters critical thinking, thoughtfulness, and creativity, while encouraging each student to realize his or her potential as made in the image and likeness of God.

We challenge students to continually mature and take increasing responsibility for their own actions and education. Our students are expected to work hard, behave well, and be respectful.

We prudently allocate and responsibly utilize our resources.

As a result of our Principle Values, a typical Transfiguration graduate is in a position to enter into the high school of their choice, and our strongest graduates are frequently among the highest achievers in their high school classes.

  • Since its founding in 1953, Transfiguration School’s warm and inclusive atmosphere has been derived from our community’s deep appreciation of what each individual gives to the Transfiguration family. Even in our beginnings, we were known as a place for community, belonging, and social service.

Since then, Transfiguration has grown rapidly. In 1998, grades 5-8 were moved from Maplewood to our new Oakdale campus where our church was expanded to double the size of the worship space, adding a gathering space, eight classrooms a gymnasium, full kitchen, and school offices. In 2004, all other grades found their new home in our newly built and modern campus.

  • We begin each Wednesday morning with Holy Mass for all our students, along with many parents and parishioners; it is the very heart of who we are as a school community. In addition to participating in the prayers and hymns of the Mass, we encourage our students to further serve as lectors, gift bearers, choir members, and altar servers.

Our pastor involves the students in his homilies, exhorting them to be saints: loving God above all things, and their neighbor as themselves.

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) is an approach to the religious formation of children which can serve children from 3-12 years of age. Click here for more information.

    Grade 2 Sacramental Preparation
In second grade our students are prepared in the classroom religion classes and Catechesis of the Good Shepard for the sacraments of Reconciliation and First Eucharist. School students and their parents are required to attend a yearly retreat that is held on a Saturday during the year.

    Grade 7 & 8 Confirmation
Our seventh and eighth graders are prepared for Confirmation during Sunday Parish Formation sessions. There are various retreats and additional activities connected with the preparation over the two year time frame. Confirmation is usually held in the spring of 8th grade year at the Cathedral of St. Paul.

Meet our Pastor,
Fr. Nate Meyers

Fr. Meyers joined Transfiguration in Oakdale as our 11th pastor on July 1st, 2024.  Ordained in 2010, Fr. Meyers has served the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis in a variety of parishes, including as pastor of St. Francis Xavier in Buffalo for ten years prior to arriving here at Transfiguration.  Growing up in St. Paul’s Midway neighborhood and later the northern suburbs, Fr. Meyers is the youngest of two children and enjoys reading, studying film, and spending time with his Brittany Spaniels.

As part of the parish, Fr. Meyers collaborates with its staff, trustees, and a wide variety of leaders among the parishioners to provide for the spiritual and material needs of Transfiguration so that each of its members can be a missionary disciple who brings Christ to family, friends, and neighbors in the East Metro and beyond.
